Account Verification Guide (KYC)

The Datagram Network requires users to complete a Know Your Customer (KYC) verification process to ensure secure and compliant participation. This guide will walk you through each step of the verification process using our trusted KYC provider Blockpass.


Eligibility Requirements

Before starting the KYC verification process, please ensure you meet the following requirements:

  1. Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to participate in the Datagram Network.

  2. Geographic Restrictions: Due to regulatory requirements, users from the following countries are not eligible to participate:

    Afghanistan, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Venezuela, Yemen, Zimbabwe.

What to prepare before starting KYC Verification:

  • Valid government-issued ID (passport, national ID, driving license)

  • Recent proof of address document (utility bill, bank statement, other supported documents)

  • Good lighting for selfie verification

  • Stable internet connection (disable VPN)

  • Desktop/laptop for wallet signing

  • Compatible browser (Chrome/Firefox recommended)

  • 15-20 minutes of uninterrupted time


Getting Started

To get started with verifying your Account (KYC), sign in to Datagram and navigate to Dashboard > Account.

  1. Account status: Unverified accounts will be labeled with an "Unverified" tag. Verified accounts will replace this "Unverified" tag with a green checkmark.

  2. Connect wallet: To begin the verification process, users will need to connect a wallet and verify their ownership of that wallet.


Step 1: Connect your wallet

Click on "Connect wallet" to begin the Blockpass verification process. Choose your preferred compatible wallet and follow the instructions. After successfully connecting a wallet, the "Start KYC" button will become available. Click on it to proceed to the next step to create a Blockpass Identity.

  1. Connected wallet: Once your wallet has been successfully connected, you will see it registered here on the Dashboard. At any time, you may click on your connected wallet to disconnect it and connect another wallet.

  2. Start KYC: After successfully connecting a wallet, the "Start KYC" button will become available. Click on it to create a Blockpass Identity.


Step 2: Create a Blockpass Identity

After successfully connecting a wallet, the next step in the verification process is to create a Blockpass Identity by registering an email address. Click on the "START" button to proceed to the next step.

Blockpass will ask you to provide one of the following documents to verify your account, but only after you have successfully input and confirmed an email address:

  • Passport

  • National ID

  • Driving License

  • Recent proof of address document

How to register an email address with Blockpass:

  1. Input an email address and click "CONTINUE". (New users can input any preferred email address, but if you have already created a Blockpass Identity, please input that email address.)

  2. Blockpass will send a 6-digit code to your email address. Check your inbox for an email with this code, enter the code and click on "LOGIN" to continue.

If you do not see an email from Blockpass, please check your spam/bulk folders. If you cannot find or did not receive an email with the 6-digit code, please go back to the Blockpass Identity creation popup, click on "Resend," and repeat the process to receive the email and input the code.


Step 3: Upload Documents

After registering an email address with Blockpass, the next steps are to build your identity profile by submitting:

  • Identity document

  • Selfie picture

  • Proof of address

ID Document Upload Guidelines

  • Preparation:

    • Open your document to the data page

    • Find good lighting conditions

    • Clean your camera lens

  • Capture Requirements:

    • All four corners must be visible

    • Avoid glare and shadows

    • Ensure text is clear and readable

    • Document should fill most of the frame

Uploading Identity Documents

Some identity documents like National ID requires uploading both the front and back side of the document.

For Selfie Verification:

  1. Setup:

    • Find a well-lit room

    • Remove glasses if they cause glare

    • Position yourself at arm's length from camera

  2. Process:

    • The system will auto-capture your face

    • Follow on-screen prompts:

      • Look straight ahead

      • Turn your head left when prompted

      • Turn your head right when prompted

    • Complete all requested movements

For Address Proof:

  • Upload a document from the supported list

  • Ensure your current residential address is clearly visible

  • Document should be recent (typically within 3 months)


Step 4: Wallet Verification

For Wallet Verification

  • Connect your wallet (WalletConnect, MetaMask or Coinbase)

  • Make sure wallet is set to Ethereum Network

  • Sign the verification message when prompted

  • Confirm the signature in your wallet app


Step 5: Submit for Verification

Before Submitting:

  • Review all uploaded documents

  • Ensure wallet is properly connected and verified

  • Check that all sections show "completed" status

To Submit:

  1. Once all steps Completed

  2. The "Register" button will become active

  3. Click "Register" to submit for KYC verification

  4. You'll see a confirmation screen, You can set password on this screen for future changes

Handling Rejections

If your KYC application is rejected, don't worry! Here's what to do:

Steps to Resubmit:

  1. Check your email for specific rejection reasons

  2. Log back in using the same email address

  3. Navigate to the rejected document section

  4. Update only the required documents or information

  5. Resubmit for re-verification
